What awaits European Union?

Since the end of 2024, we have entered a new period — the era of Pluto in Aquarius. Pluto in Aquarius comes to destroy everything that is rotten, stagnant, and without function. Positions of power are changing, and the hierarchical order that has existed until now will gradually lose its importance. This is a twenty-year period of constant change, though not necessarily systematic — changes will often occur suddenly and without much warning.

Ultimately, after the Aquarian period that lasts until 2043, the world as we know it today will no longer be the same. This does not necessarily mean it will be worse or better — it will simply be different. In a world of polarity, both good and bad things will appear, as well as good and bad people and good and bad decisions.

The European Union will also find itself under the strong influence of Pluto in Aquarius, and according to its natal configuration it has a Scorpio nature. Therefore, the question arises of how this Scorpio nature of the EU will withstand pressures, both internal and external.

To begin with, it is necessary to explain the nature of the European Union itself. With its creation, it did something new and different in modern history. The conjunction of Uranus and Neptune symbolically brought the dissolution of borders, or rather their opening. The market became common, and borders largely lost their previous importance.

Within this new paradigm, the EU sought to become strong, large, and stable enough to protect itself from external threats. Through successful navigation of diplomacy and a combination of a free market approach, a period of great prosperity emerged. During this prosperity the European Union enjoyed stability, sometimes postponing important decisions and concrete actions.

As the EU grew, so did its slow administration and complex communication, which can be associated with the aspects of Saturn square Mars and Saturn square Mercury.

Interestingly, the EU has a strong need (Moon) for trade and for simple and fluid communication. This will be difficult to stabilize over the next few years while Uranus is in Gemini. What does this mean in practice? We can continue to expect tariffs, customs duties, and sudden changes in trade negotiations, but also certain revolutionary breakthroughs and waves of national extremism.

On the other hand, the European Union was also created out of a need for defense and protection. In its chart, the idea of protection and readiness is strongly integrated, which is reflected in the aspect of Pluto conjunct Mars.

After years of expansion and growth, it can be said that the golden age of the European Union is approaching its end. In the next twenty years, during the period of Pluto in Aquarius, the EU will face the challenge of a new transformation.

What has already begun will most likely continue — civil unrest in certain countries within the EU will affect its stability.

Alongside internal challenges, external pressures can also be expected, because Pluto in Aquarius tends to dismantle existing orders. The world as we know it is changing, and the European Union will particularly feel that pressure. EU leaders, as well as its citizens, already sense that the once peaceful period of the Union is gradually changing.

Pressure on external borders is increasing, as was already visible during the migrant crisis. What was once stable is no longer equally secure. The open question remains whether this could at some point draw the EU into military conflicts.

For now, the natal aspects of the European Union itself — particularly slow administration and communication, and therefore decision-making — act as a factor delaying such scenarios. However, even that cannot last forever.

The European Union will have an imperative to change the way it communicates and operates. This process of change will last until 2033, when we may begin to feel its more pronounced physical power.

At the same time, a certain escalation and sharpening of relations can also be expected, because Mercury and Mars in Scorpio — which are emphasized in the EU’s natal chart — will be under strong influence.

It should not be forgotten that the European Union has a Scorpio nature, whose fundamental characteristic is deep internal transformation — a process of change that unfolds from the inside outward.

According to the symbolism of Scorpio, as long as it is not disturbed there is no danger. However, any intrusion into Scorpio’s space, which values power and control, can turn it into a very strong opponent.

What has so far prevented the European Union from changing more quickly are certainly the aspects of Saturn square Mars and Saturn square Mercury, which make rapid decisions and changes in everyday functioning more difficult.

With the arrival of Pluto in Aquarius, the way European leaders communicate could change significantly, with a stronger need to express power through action and communication.

Although at its core the EU built its expansion primarily through diplomacy, this approach will face certain challenges.

This process has already begun, and from 2033 onward we could say that the European Union — if it manages to overcome the challenges — may mature into a stronger political entity with a more clearly expressed physical power.
